From Kylie Jenner wearing a leather dress by the fashion house to the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, to fashion designer Olivier Rousteing once describing Kim as his ‘muse’ in 2017 to CNN, it's near impossible to separate the identities of French luxury brand Balmain and the Kardashian-Jenner family.
After all, this is a label the family has chosen to wear for some of their most memorable red carpet moments (who can forget their matching bejewelled outfits by the designer for the 2016 Met Gala?) and walked for countless times at Paris Fashion Week.
But now, one of the family’s famous beauty entrepreneurs has decided to team up with Rousteing for the most important collaboration between the two famous fashion dynasties for the first time.
On Monday, 22-year-old Kylie posted a photograph on Instagram announcing her latest business venture with Balmain, revealing that a Kylie X Balmain collection will drop during PFW.
In the snap, the beauty mogul wears a feathered, bejewelled white, lilac and pink blazer dress with a wide belt while Rousteing stands behind her dressed in a white shirt giving his best Tyra Banks-inspired ‘Smize’ to camera.
The mother-of-one shows off her make-up prowess in the photo, sporting ombre pink, purple and lilac eyeshadow with black eyeliner and a slick of caramel-hued lipstick. Her hair is cut into a short blunt bob which is vastly different to her long black curls she’s worn on Instagram in recent weeks.
'Paris is always a good idea,' Jenner wrote in the caption to the post, adding a French flag emoji. 'Surprise.. KYLIE X BALMAIN @kyliecosmetics collection launching this Friday 9.27...'
WWD reports that Rousteing has also asked Jenner to serve as the artistic director for make-up at his Balmain show during PFW.
'To celebrate the event, Kylie Cosmetics and Balmain will launch a capsule collection for sale online on 27th September, the day of the show, available worldwide on Kylie Cosmetics’ website,' the publication states.
The 22-year-old will also attend a party at the Balmain store on Rue Saint-Honoré in the City of Love on Friday to celebrate the pair's collaboration, which will include a lip colour, eye shadow and accessories that will be worn by models at the show.
'The inspiration really came from Look 26 [the pastel pink couture jumpsuit Jenner wore to the 61st annual Grammy awards] and we went from there,' the Californian-born entrepreneur told WWD via email.
Rousteing praised Jenner for her dedication to the project, explaining: 'She’s incredibly hands-on. It’s quite incredible working with Kylie, because she has a very clear vision of what she wants and she’s very committed to the job.'
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality star is expected to arrive in Paris today (Tuesday 24th September) ahead of the Balmain show, which will take place at 11.30am on Friday.
'She wanted to know when the first make-up artist will be arriving backstage, so she’s going to be there at 7:30 a.m. to be the first to work on all the models,' the designer added. 'There’s a definite look for the show, but within that, each girl will have different make-up depending on their skin tone and the clothes they’ll be wearing.'
The collaboration marks the first time the Kylie Cosmetics founder has collaborated with a major luxury fashion brand and the second time Balmain has ventured into cosmetics (L’Oréal Paris in 2017).
'We worked together the entire process and were always video calling each other to discuss colours and swatches, as well as the packaging design,' Jenner told WWD. 'When Olivier was here in [Los Angeles] for the Creative Artist Emmys, we shot the campaign images.'
Last week, Jenner shared a photo on Instagram of herself dressed in a pointed-shoulder black sequinned midi dress carrying a black bag designed by the fashion house.
‘Balmain Baby,’ she captioned the post.
Friday couldn't come soon enough.
