Timothée Chalamet Gives His First Comment on Dating Kylie Jenner - ELLE

Timothée Chalamet understands that there’s interest in his love life, especially now that he is dating Kylie Jenner. But that doesn’t mean he is going to share much about it—at least not yet.

To GQ, Chalamet addressed his fame and gave his first comment on dating Jenner while pursuing privacy. On having his life followed by fans and the interest in his love life generally, he said, “I can’t say that this stuff doesn’t matter, because my intense fandom has led me to where I am.”

But he also “bristles at the suggestion that he might not be entitled to a wholly private life,” GQ’s reporter Daniel Riley wrote. Riley gently suggested his stance seems fair, but “if he really wanted to be left alone he might not spend time with one of the four most followed people on Instagram,” Riley added. Jenner, of course, is the fourth most-followed person on Instagram.

Chalamet nodded at the comment, laughed, and said, “This reminds me of that recent South Park episode with the Worldwide Privacy Tour [which was a parody of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, and had their characters traveling around the world, demanding privacy]. Sometimes, people are going to be hella confused when you say you’re trying to live a private life.”

Riley noted that after he did his pre-SAG strike interview with Chalamet, Chalamet and Jenner went public with their romance at Beyoncé’s concert. He was unable to ask Chalamet any follow-up questions about it due to the strike.

Chalamet did share a little about how important it is to protect his humanity, which also helps enhance his art. “You’ve got to have the experiences in your personal life that are usable to you,” he said. “The experiential rush of my career taking off was so new to me that those were the experiences that were feeding my work for a while. But you’ve got to have real experiences. Human experiences. You’ve got to fall in love, you’ve got to be bored. I talked about the crease in the cushion of the couch the last time we talked [in 2020, when he mentioned needing to just sit still], but I never found the crease in that time! I never slowed down. I never disappeared from view. But this year, in L.A., I feel like I have in a great way.”
