Kris Jenner from Keeping Up With the Kardashians finally posted on Instagram this week after Kanye West called her Kris-Jong-Un. Jenner's son-in-law has reportedly been having a bipolar episode in what has been a week of surprising, frenzied, and concerning social media posts by the embattled rapper and mogul.
For many, being likened to a dictator would leave them nonplussed. However, for Jenner, she refused to pay the comment any mind. Instead, when she finally did take to social media, she shared a 30-second video dedicated to a box of beignets that she received from Christina Millian. The powdered puff pastries are a Louisiana delicacy, but came to her via the Calabasas bakery Beignet Box. Jenner could have responded to any number of West's insults and ramblings from this week. However, she chose to take the high road and stand in solidarity with her daughter, Kim, who posted an impassioned plea to the public to go easy on her husband during this tough time in their lives.
Wednesday morning, Kim posted the following message to her Instagram story:
"I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions. He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions."
West's onslaught of social media attacks began shortly after he announced he was running for president on the newly erected Birthday Party ticket. From there, he teased fans that he'd be dropping his latest album titled Donda (after his late mother), yet never followed through. Next, there was the unfortunate campaign speech in which the rapper eventually burst into tears during a stream-of-consciousness meltdown. He followed that up with a series of tweets against his wife and his famous in-laws. One tweet garnering huge attention accused Kim of using her prison reform platform as a front for an alleged affair with rapper Meek Mill. West even went public with news that he was planning to divorce his wife of six years. Kardashian's message to her fans that her husband's latest medical emergency was nothing to laugh at could likely have been influenced by momager Kris Jenner's tight reign on the family's brand and public image. Remember, it was she who initially brokered the deal for Kim's infamous sex tape, turning an embarrassing situation into career gold for the entire brood.
Leave it to maestro Kris to diffuse yet another bomb in her family's tumultuous public life. After all of the scandals and controversies that Jenner has encountered over the years, she's become a natural at shifting focus onto other things. As for Kanye, in light of his latest manic episode, close friends including Dave Chappelle and Hailey and Justin Bieber have been rallying around the rapper, showing their support for him as well. It's doubtful that he and Kris will be on the outs for too long, as Kanye has already started to apologize to everyone he may have offended during this latest series of social media attacks...including wife Kim. Besides, Kris is way too shrewd a businesswoman to ever let personal feelings (or mental illness) stand in the way her family's billion-dollar legacy.
