Nick Saban may have retired a month ago, but fear not because Kendall Jenner brought tequila and Lynyrd Skynyrd to help Tuscaloosa cope.
Jenner on Tuesday posted an Instagram story, teasing her visit to Tuscaloosa with a video shot driving on the Lurleen Wallace Boulevard bridge while scoping out the city water tower and blasting Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama.”
In her previous story, Jenner reposted a video from her 818 tequila brand teasing visits to various college towns, with comments begging the supermodel to visit theirs (including the University of Alabama).
Sure enough, the 818 IG account posted when and where they (and Jenner) would be on Tuesday afternoon, first visiting Innisfree Irish Pub at 2 p.m. and then The Houndstooth at 3 p.m.
Jenner, 28, exited a black SUV and waved to onlookers (behind a barricade next to neighboring Bryant Bank) before entering Innisfree where she posed for pictures with the owners.
Innisfree (packed with customers) quickly posted video of the visit as Jenner, wearing a royal blue baseball cap and a white T-shirt, stood behind the bar to pour $2 818 Tequila Blanco shots and $4 margaritas, as every phone in T-town raised high to document the moment.
Jenner appeared to be all smiles as she poured one glass after another, as Tuscaloosa soaked in the moment. They’d better, too, because she was a blur, scooting in and out with other stops to make in town before zipping off to more college towns. Innisfree posted a video of her exit, with the text “COME BACK SOON,” as she jumped aboard the black SUV and moved on.
University of Alabama graduate and Tuscaloosa resident Sierra Rooney was on hand to grab some photos and video of the occasion, posting them on X (formerly Twitter). She got a heads up from the bar something big was in store this week. “Innis announced they had a huge surprise on Feb 6 so I’ve been stalking their instagram for early updates,” she told AL.com. “I thought it was weird they were featuring 818 since it’s a nicer tequila at a higher price point but then I saw an article that Kendall wanted to bartend and spread the brand to college campuses back in October.”
Born in Los Angeles, Jenner is quite simply one of the most famous people in the world. A supermodel, social media star and businesswoman, Jenner is the daughter of Kris and Caitlyn Jenner. She appeared on the popular reality television series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” for 20 seasons. In 2017, Forbes named Jenner the world’s highest-paid model. She has 294 million followers on Instagram.
Jenner launched the tequila brand in 2021. The name comes from an area code in the Los Angeles metro area. “The area code 818 is home to me,” Jenner says on the 818 website.
