Kylie Jenner is one of the hottest stars in the world, a young social media influencer who has been able to leverage her family’s fame and fortune to create an empire that is all her own. The success of her cosmetics company, Kylie Cosmetics, has elevated her status even further, prompting Forbes to pronounce her the world’s youngest self-made billionaire in early 2019. Recently, Forbes rescinded the title, citing dishonesty on Jenner’s part — and according to new reports, Jenner has lost yet another financial milestone. This time, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is to blame.
Kylie Jenner is a wealthy young entrepreneur
Kylie Jenner first rose to fame on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as a fresh-faced ten-year-old. Over the years, she began to create her very own brand, eventually launching the iconic “lip kit,” based on the popularity of her filler-enhanced lips. Shortly after, she unveiled Kylie Cosmetics, expanding into selling eyeshadows, eyebrow products, highlighters, concealers, and much more.
In 2019, Jenner expanded her empire yet again when she released a line of skincare products, known as Kylie Skin. The products sold out in minutes, proving that Jenner’s popularity with her fan base is one of a kind. Jenner’s income doesn’t just come from her makeup and skincare products, however — the young star is one of the biggest celebs on social media, and occasionally posts ads for sponsored products. For these sponsored posts, she rakes in the big bucks, and in March 2019, Forbes proclaimed her to be the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. Jenner’s fans celebrated her accomplishments, just as critics slammed the young woman as not being truly “self-made.”
Kylie Jenner recently lost billionaire status

In early 2020, Forbes published an article that instantly went viral. They rescinded their previous article that named Jenner as a billionaire, stating that they had been given misleading information by Jenner’s staff, information that made the makeup maven appear wealthier than what she actually is. Forbes pointed to potentially falsified tax documents, as well as interviews with Kris Jenner that had led them to incorrectly identify her as a billionaire in the 2019 article.
Kylie Jenner’s camp was quick to respond, calling Forbes’ integrity into question and standing by her financial status. In addition, Jenner slammed the idea that she had falsified any information. Regardless of who is in the right, Jenner’s net worth these days is not exactly what it was a year ago. Her reported net worth is around $900 million, according to Forbes, thanks in part to the sale of part of Kylie Cosmetics to the brand Coty in November 2019.
Dwayne Johnson makes more per Instagram post than Kylie Jenner
In addition to no longer being a billionaire, Kylie Jenner recently lost another title — and in the age of social media, this one could hurt even more. A new report reveals that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just surpassed Jenner as Instagram’s highest-paid celeb, making around $1 million per sponsored Instagram post, reports BBC. Kylie Jenner, by contrast, reportedly is able to make $986,000 per post. Interestingly, Johnson’s net worth is not as high as Jenner’s, reportedly around $320 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
The report also calls out the difference in their social media following. Kylie Jenner has around 182 million Instagram followers, while Dwayne Johnson has 187 million followers. While neither Johnson nor Jenner post sponsored ads frequently, it is clear that when they do, both of them make some serious coin. It’s likely that neither of them are sweating the details since both stars are sitting pretty in their wealth.
