  • Make-up mogul donated $1 million to several relief organisations in Australia
  • About $270,000 went to the Rural Fire Brigades Association of Queensland

Kylie Jenner's generous bushfire donation earlier this year has helped buy a 'heavy-attack' fire truck to battle blazes in Queensland

The American make-up mogul donated $1million to several relief organisations in Australia in January as ferocious bushfires swept across the country, causing widespread destruction.

About $270,000 (US$200,000) went towards the Rural Fire Brigades Association of Queensland.

The organisation has put the money towards the truck and specialised bushfire mapping electronic tablets that will help firefighters navigate difficult terrain in low signal areas.

The 'heavy-attack' truck will be used to battle bushfires, help out at road crashes and other emergency incidents.

The 23-year-old's New York-based publicist Christy Welder called RFBAQ general manager Justin Choveaux to inform him of the donation.

Mr Choveaux was left scratching his head when the call first came through.

He said his first question was: 'Are you sure it's for us?'

'I said ''we are the Rural Fire Brigades Association, we support brigades and volunteers in Queensland, if you want your money to help people who have lost everything that's not us, we don't do that'',' he told the ABC.

'But the person who represents the Jenners said ''we are donating a million dollars, and we want $200,000 to go to rural firefighters in Queensland''.

'Obviously I said ''that's fantastic''.'

The truck was also partially funded by donations from schools and businesses, which have been included in a plaque now emblazoned on the truck.

The pledge comes: Just one day after Jenner landed in the hotseat for what many fans deemed an insensitive concurrence of posts, one showing her dismay below an image of a burned koala, and the other a snap of Louis Vuitton slippers - made from real mink fur

Her contribution happened just one day after Jenner landed in hot water for what many fans deemed an insensitive concurrence of posts.

In one post she wrote 'this breaks my heart' below an image of a burned koala and the text 'over half a BILLION animals' being killed by the wildfires, and the other a snap of her 'baby pink toes' peaking out from Louis Vuitton slippers - made from real mink fur.

Last summer's devastating fires claimed 33 lives and destroyed hundreds of homes.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Assistant Commissioner John Bolger said the region was starting to bounce back after the devastation from last year.

He said the new truck would ensure travellers and locals remain safe this bushfire season.
