Caitlyn Jenner was supposed to be stumping for governor of California in Plumas County Thursday and Friday, while viewing devastation left by the Dixie Fire, but instead, the candidate in the contentious Sept. 14 recall election made a stray comment Thursday that blew open the news that her famous daughter, Kylie Jenner, is pregnant with baby No. 2.

While visiting a children’s toy and clothing boutique in the small town of Quincy, the reality TV star and ex-Olympian opened up about her 18 grandchildren, TMZ reported. She joked that she wanted 30 grandchildren for the evenness of the number before confirming she will soon have 19 grandchildren, as one is “in the oven,” TMZ said.

On Friday, TMZ, Page Six and People, citing multiple sources, confirmed that Kylie Jenner is expecting her second child with Travis Scott, her on-again, off-again rapper boyfriend. The news confirms internet rumors about a second baby that have been gaining momentum in recent weeks.

But also on Friday, Page Six reported that another of Caitlyn Jenner’s children, 42-year-old Burt Jenner, also is expecting a baby with his girlfriend, Valerie Pitalo. A source told Page Six that this was the baby “in the oven” Caitlyn Jenner was referring to.

Nonetheless, the candidate’s comment sparked a frenzy about Kylie Jenner, with many fans assuming Caitlyn Jenner was talking about her youngest daughter. Gossip and entertainment sites likewise seemed motivated to track down whether the rumors about Kylie were true.

Kylie and Travis already are parents of 3-year-old daughter Stormi Webster and are apparently back together, TMZ said. TMZ also noted that Kylie famously kept her pregnancy with Stormi a secret until her birth in February 2018.

Kylie Jenner also has long been open about her desire to expand her family further, People said. She told a fan in 2019, “I can’t wait to have more babies.” In a January 2020 YouTube video, she also said she sees herself “for sure having four kids” but doesn’t “have a timeline to this.”

In the past week, internet sleuths tried to find pregnancy clues in photos and videos that the Kylie Cosmetics mogul has shared, including of her 24th birthday on Aug. 10, Yahoo reported. One TikTok user in particular, @carolinecaresalot, went viral with a video she posted Aug. 11, explaining why she thinks Jenner is secretly pregnant.

Her main evidence had to do with videos and photos shared by Jenner and her friends for her birthday gathering. First she said it was odd that the party was a small, intimate gathering, rather than the usual spectacle Jenner is known for, which would provide days of Instagram content. While the low-key party could be because of the pandemic, @carolinecaresalot argued that none of Jenner’s guests shared photos of her at the party. Instead, all the party posts were of the food, drinks or of other guests.

@carolinecaresalot also argued that a photo Jenner shared of herself on her birthday, in a body-hugging green dress and with a flat stomach, was an old photo, based on her fingernails. She furthermore contended that any recent photos Jenner has posted of herself in skimpy bikinis also were shot some time ago.

Prior to outlets confirming that Kylie Jenner was pregnant, they also said that Caitlyn Jenner’s talk about having another grandchild could have referred to any of her adult children being an expetant parent. Page Six also said that Caitlyn Jenner should check her with math. With Kylie and Burt’s new babies, she’ll have 20 grandchildren, not 19.

Caitlyn Jenner, 71, has six children and from all three marriages. Jenner’s first marriage to Chrystie Scott produced son Burt and daughter Cassandra. Caitlyn Jenner and her second wife, Linda Thompson, share sons Brandon and Brody. Most famously, Caitlyn Jenner’s third marriage, to reality TV mega-manager Kris Jenner, produced Kylie and her older sister, supermodel Kendall Jenner.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner was expected to wrap up her visit to Plumas County Friday. The Plumas News reported that she was visiting the area to view the devastation of the Dixie Fire firsthand and to learn more about the timber industry.

The fire has burned nearly 700,000 acres and destroyed 1,224 structures, including 659 homes, but is only about 35 percent contained. The fire still threatens another 16,085 structures in four counties and sites in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Caitlyn Jenner’s itinerary includes visiting the fire camp at the fairgrounds, participating in a round table meeting with local officials, stopping at local businesses, and touring the small historic town of Greenville, which was decimated by the fire.
