When the pandemic broke out, they decided to use their resources for good by giving out hand sanitizer.
"Demand was amazing and within days we were giving out buckets," Vikre said.
Behind their distillery is a family who worries about two-year-old, Vidar, who's already dealt with a world of health problems in just a short time.
"When we were pregnant with him, we found out through one of the ultrasounds that it seemed like there was something a little bit wrong," Vikre said.
At just five days old, he had surgery on his heart and then it got worse.
"Six days after the surgery he decompensated in the middle of the night and coded, and had to be intubated and stabilized," Vikre said.
It was in their time of need their neighbors stepped up to help them.
"The community supported us so much when we went through what we went through, when our son was in the hospital," Vikre said.
From starting a GoFundMe, to a grant from the Northern Lights Foundation, it came when they needed it most.
"All of those things help lift the burden just a little bit, because as much as possible, you need your energy and you need your focus to be there on your child," Vikre said.
Despite his setbacks, Vidar is now growing up to be a healthy little boy.
"We just had faith in him that he was going to get things sorted out in his own time," Vikre said.
His family now paying it forward, as many others worry about their health.
"It's just is so wonderful and meaningful to be able to do something that does help the community in a time that is really hard for everyone," Vikre said.
The Vikre family was set to be honored at the Northern Lights Foundation's annual Children's Charity Gala on May 21. That was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19.
