To Vegas baby! Kylie Jenner flew into the city that never sleeps to gift Cardi B a Tiffany-blue Hermès Birkin bag for her 28th birthday on 11 October. The beauty mogul amped up the glamour for the rapper’s twerktastic celebrations, and plucked a custom look out of her Versace archive to ensure no one even came close to a same-dress disaster.
“Peachy glam,” Jenner captioned a suite-side snap of her glittering Versace mini dress, featuring a draped neckline and gold Medusa emblems adorning the straps. A truncated version of look 30 from the autumn/winter 2019 collection, Jenner dialled down the accessories paired with the original runway get-up. A gold lamé Chanel mini flap bag and Harry Kotlar diamond earrings were all the reality TV star needed to get casino ready.
The genesis of the Italian house’s last winter collection was Donatella Versace’s general musing that social media is at the root of our obsession with perfection. “A little bit of imperfection is the new perfection,” the queen of high-octane Italian glamour said before presenting a collection that had grunge spirit at its core. Fast forward 12 months, and it seems apt that Jenner – the world’s second most followed woman on Instagram – is still acting as the poster girl for the season. Call that a meta definition of Versace’s signature sass. It’s not Versace’s supermodel crew wearing the clothes IRL, it’s the women for whom Donatella’s sequin-drenched fashion is an everyday reality – one that generates millions of likes.
