Caitlyn Jenner is confused on Twitter responding to her own tweet in the third person - Daily Mail

Caitlyn Jenner gets confused on Twitter and responds to her own tweet in the third person ... as social media savvy daughter Kylie celebrates her 24th birthday

Caitlyn Jenner is trying to convince Californians she can run the state but she doesn't seem to have mastered using Twitter.

The 71-year-old gubernatorial candidate seemingly got confused about her own tweets this week and responded to herself in the third person in a peculiar exchange on the social media platform.

She could certainly stand to get some tips from her children, particularly daughter Kylie, who turned 24 on Thursday, and boasts 256M Instagram followers.

Caitlyn retweeted a post to 'stop the recall' of California's Governor Gavin Newsom, whom Jenner is running against.

As Jenner is in favor of the recall she expressed her support in her retweet: 'Why? Do you want more unemployment? More from? More illegal immigration bringing COVID? Schools closed? BS! Forget #GavinNewsom'

Immediately, social media users responded with questions about her assertion that 'illegal immigration' is responsible for spikes in the coronavirus.

'Sweet mother of science, immigration is not causing Covid. My Lord, that is a new one,' one person quipped.

That's not how this works: Caitlyn later responded to her own tweet - seemingly not realizing she was talking to herself - and expressed confusion about the retweet and referred to herself in the third person

While another shared a map of the US coronavirus cases: 'Map of COVID hot spots - doesn’t line up with our border, it lines up with low vax rates and irresponsible state legislation COVID isn’t coming from the border Get vax’d and mask up'

Caitlyn chose not to respond to the questions but, instead, chose to respond to herself sharing an odd message.

'Honestly shocked she would retweet that. Thank you! A very important story that needs to come to all Californians,' read the tweet from Jenner's account.

Confusingly, she doesn't seem to realize she is the one who retweeted the message in the first place.

Hilarious: The bizarre tweet stayed up for a day and a half and other social media users hysterically roasted the gubernatorial candidate for her mistake

Whether or not this was Caitlyn not understanding how to use the platform or a snafu from someone on her team remains a mystery.

The tweet has since been removed but according to TooFab it was up on her page for a day and a half.

It was up long enough for Twitter to do what it does best and react with a slew of hilarious memes about the former Olympian.

Jenner's social media savvy daughters Kylie and Kendall Jenner could certainly give her a few tips on how to properly use Twitter.

Kylie, who is one of the most followed accounts on Instagram, is celebrating her 24th birthday on Thursday.

While mom Kris Jenner took to Insta with a gushing post to wish Kylie a happy birthday, Caitlyn has yet to do so.

Jenner recently touched down in California again after a stint down under to appear on the Celebrity VIP edition of Australia's Big Brother.

She had another social media faux pas on her hands when she let a spoiler slip, as she declared online that she was 'glad to be back' in the Golden State just a few days after entering the reality TV competition.

Jenner, who is campaigning to replace Governor Gavin Newsom in the state's upcoming recall election, tweeted: 'Great time abroad for fun and glad to be back in #California on the campaign trail!'

Her swift return to America all but confirms she will be one of the first contestants to leave Big Brother VIP when it airs on Channel Seven later this year.

The former Olympian, who is rumored to have been paid $500,000 to appear on Big Brother VIP, then shared a picture of her dog Bertha and captioned it: 'So happy to be back in California!'

Filming for the new season began in Sydney on July 30, after Caitlyn had completed her mandatory two weeks of hotel quarantine.

Over quick: The former Olympian, who is rumored to have been paid $500,000 to appear on Big Brother VIP, appears to only last a few episodes in the competition which airs later this year
