Kylie Jenner’s Christmas tree may be pretty to some — but hated by others.
On Wednesday, the Kylie Cosmetics founder shared a glimpse at one of her home’s Christmas trees, and this one was covered in a very divisive holiday decoration: tinsel.
In the photo she shared to her Instagram Story, the tree is very skinny with spare branches, but it's minimalist form was accented with a maximalist addition. it was adorned in heavy bunches of tinsel that cascaded down from each branch. Also lining the tree was red-beaded garland.
While some holiday enthusiasts love tinsel for its sparkle and retro flair, it's largely fallen out of fashion in recent decades. And some — particularly those tasked with vacuuming around their festive fir — have shunned it all together. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters are known for responding to fans' critiques on social media so time may tell what side of the tinsel debate Kylie's followers fall on.
The silver bedecked Christmas tree isn't Jenner's only one. In the midst of enjoying Thanksgiving dinner Kylie, revealed another preview of her main Christmas tree in a short clip on her Instagram Story.
She began the video with a close-up shot of the tree’s classic white lights and colorful ornaments shaped like snowmen, sleighs and Santa. She then panned out to show off her tree's towering height.
While this tree doesn’t appear to be quite as large as last year’s, fans may recognize the similar ornaments and lights. Kylie and the rest of her famous sisters — including Kendall, 28, Kim Kardashian, 43, Khloé, 39, and Kourtney, 44 — are known for their over-the-top Christmas trees and decorations.
The Kardashian Jenners aren't strangers to a controversial Christmas decor choice.
For several years Kim Kardashian had displayed a collection of marshmallow-like white sculptures evoking a whimsical forest in her home. While the modern decorations weren't for everyone Kim stood behind them.
“If you didn’t think I would bring back Whoville in the house,” the mother of four said of her 2020 display, referring to the fictional town from Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas that many compared her sculptures to in years past.
The fluffy creations are the work of Australian contemporary artist Kathy Temin, which an event designer familiar with the artist estimated came with "a price tag of at least $10,000 each.”
This year, however, Kim has gone more classic, instead filling the hallways of her all-white home with traditional evergreens featuring flocking (of fake snow).
