Caitlyn Jenner has chosen Kanye West to be her “best man” when she weds Sophie Hutchins, alleges a new tabloid story. Among the problems with the article is that Jenner and Hutchins are not even dating, let alone engaged to be married. Regardless, Gossip Cop looked into the claim and we’re told it’s 100 percent “false.”
According to the National Enquirer, which doesn’t have a stellar record when reporting about the former Olympian, Jenner has chosen West to be her “best man.” The magazine and its sister site, RadarOnline, which regurgitated the tabloid’s tale, quote an unnamed and untraceable “source” as saying Jenner appreciates how it was “Kanye who supported her when she was most vulnerable,” and as a thank-you, she would like to “honor him with the role as ‘best man'” at the wedding.
Referring to Jenner as a “sex swapper,” the rude supermarket tabloid then asserts Hutchins is “all for” West being the “best man.” The outlet also contends Jenner’s choice” of West is “sure to rile” Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian, but she doesn’t care because she “wants Kanye to stand up for her at the wedding.” Glaringly missing in the both the printed and online versions of the article is when Jenner is supposedly going to marry Hutchins.
The reason there are no details mentioned about the purported nuptials, including where they’ll take place or who else will be invited, is because Hutchins and Jenner are not engaged nor dating, and there’s absolutely no wedding being planned. Just a few months ago, Hutchins stressed she and Jenner are not in a “romantic relationship,” but they are very close “business partners.” For her part, Jenner told Vanity in an interview about being an activist for transgender rights that while she and Hutchins are “inseparable” and “best of friends,” they are not a couple. Significantly, while the publication and website hide behind an anonymous and possibly made-up “source,” Jenner’s rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop the entire story about West being tapped to be her “best man” is “false.”
As noted above, the magazine has been very wrong before about the former gold medalist. For instance, Gossip Cop corrected the outlet when it absurdly maintained Jenner was pursuing a “romantic relationship” with Monica Lewinsky. The supermarket tabloid even claimed Lewinsky was open to dating Jenner. Of course that story, as we pointed out then, was also a fabrication.
Actually, the publication has been pushing the false narrative about Jenner and Hutchins getting married for some time now. Back in July, Gossip Cop busted the magazine when it printed a totally untrue tale about Jenner being a “bridezilla” for her alleged wedding to Hutchins. In that bogus article, a seemingly concocted “insider” said Jenner’s “demands have turned the whole process into a nightmare,” especially with her “insane micromanaging.”
Back then the Enquirer also couldn’t provide any information about where and when the supposed wedding was to take place. At the time of that phony report, Jenner’s rep told Gossip Cop that she and Hutchins are “not dating,” and there was “no wedding” in the works, making it impossible for her to be a “bridezilla.” Much like that manufactured premise, the latest tall tale about Jenner asking West to be her “best man” is also completely wrong.
RadarOnline, which cut-and-pasted the tabloid’s story, has also has produced a fair number of provably inaccurate articles about Jenner. Among its doozies was a piece over the summer that untruthfully claimed Jenner and Hutchins were adopting a baby together. But just because the website repeated the magazine’s report, it doesn’t make it true that West will be the “best man” at Jenner and Hutchins’s (nonexistent) wedding. It’s simply a couple of related outlets spreading one lie in two different ways.
