Kylie Jenner, savior of 20-somethings ... and us all?
Surgeon General Jerome Adams isn’t ruling it out.
Appearing on “Good Morning America” Thursday, Adams suggested that the 22-year-old reality star who heads up a billion-dollar cosmetics business might just be the key to Gen Z.
Some young adults think the coronavirus should be no barrier to enjoying spring break (see this jarring CBS News report). That’s a problem.
How do we get these kids to take the threat seriously?
“I have a 15- and a 14-year-old and the more I tell them not to do something, the more they want to do it,” Adams told “GMA” host Michael Strahan.
“What I really think we need to do, and you and I talked about this earlier this week, was get our influencers — Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, we need to get Kylie Jenner, we need to get our social media influencers out there and helping folks understand that look, this is serious," Adams said. "This is absolutely serious. People are dying. We again are seeing new data emerging from Italy that suggest that young people may be at higher risk in different situations than what we previously thought. But think about your grandmother, think about your grandfather, think about that fact that you’re spreading disease, which could ultimately be what kills them.”
Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets was one of several players on the team to test positive for the coronavirus disease. So have Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz.
As for Jenner, mother to 2-year-old daughter Stormi? She’s practicing social distancing.
“Another daily reminder to take this social distancing serious and self quarantine,” Jenner recently posted on her Instagram story.
“I’m on day 8,” she said in another post. “My pregnancy prepared me for this. I didn’t leave the house for months.”
