Do you ever wonder what's up with the Kardashians' step-siblings? Prob not, but either way Brandon Jenner's out here spilling some tea. The 38-year-old musician opened up about his relationship with Caitlyn Jenner, who apparently wasn't really part of her son's childhood or young adulthood.
In To Me, He Was Just Dad, a new book of essays written by kids who grew up with famous parents, Brandon wrote (via People) “I didn’t see my father more than half a dozen times between the ages eight and 25."
“Sadly, the infrequent exchanges felt more like staged photo opportunities than real bonding," he explained. "In fact, they were [staged] photo ops for ‘family’ Christmas cards.”
Yikes. But wait, there's more! “After Dad met and married Kris, family became a business for him," Brandon added [edit note: Brandon is misgendering Caitlyn here, who goes by she/her]. "And I stayed away for most of my teenage years. I didn’t want to be a part of their dynamic. I know now, though, that Dad was pretty unhappy in that house and felt like he wasn’t treated well."
Nowadays, Brandon and Caitlyn have a closer relationship—and back in 2015 Caitlyn told Diane Sawyer that “The big formative years for them, I was really struggling with these [identity] issues. I talked to all the boys about this after the fact, that, yeah, I didn’t do a good job. And I apologized to my kids for that.”
