Kendall Jenner made a routine appearance for the paparazzi this weekend, attending her sister Khloé Kardashian’s baby shower. The model wore a knit sweater with a pop of purple on the sleeve, bootcut jeans with an extra-long Off-White belt, and a kicky pair of booties, though her outfit was overshadowed by the extra-large Hermés Birkin bag in her arms. The massive orange piece was quite the carryall (one could even carry a toddler in it). Jenner has previously toted the upscale sack to the airport, and she noted the supersize Birkin was the “perfect airport bag” when she showed it to Vogue for her closet tour last year.
While it might appear a bit cumbersome, Jenner’s humongous Birkin is rather refreshing. Itty-bitty bags have been all the rage on the runway and with celebrities. Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and even Jenner herself have all carried the micro bag. Meanwhile, teeny cardholder purses appeared at Giambattista Valli for Fall 2018 and Simon Porte Jacquemus sent out more of his little lady bags. (Speaking of Jacquemus, remember when Rihanna strolled down Rihanna Drive in Barbados with a tiny Jacquemus bag?) By contrast, Jenner’s large bag nods to the excessive noughties-era. (Think: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen hauling elephant-size Birkins.) It’s an undeniably great look, but leaves us with one question: What exactly could Jenner be carrying? Our bets are on a dumbell-size Tiffany baby rattle.
