The Jenner children will apparently not stop until Von Dutch trucker hats are back on top. In 2016, it was Kylie Jenner who tried to bring back the mid-aughts trend, now it’s her big sister__ Kendall.__ The model was photographed leaving Drake’s themed birthday party in Los Angeles wearing low-cut jeans, hair extensions, and a pink sequin trucker hat. In her defense, the party was 2000s-themed, meaning she was merely dressing for the theme, not necessarily making a fashion statement. But, as with anything the Jenner-Kardashians do, there’s no telling how many copycats might take her seriously anyway.
And after all, Jenner learned from the best. Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton were both often photographed embracing peak mid-2000s trends like trucker hats and Juicy Couture tracksuits. As noted by *People,* Hilton has since gone on the record to atone for her fashion sins.
“I would never wear a Von Dutch hat again even though I, like, wore them, like, every single day before,” she told Who What Wear in June. “That’s, like, something I would not wear. I love low-rise jeans still and short jean skirts.”
It’s not the first time Jenner has looked to the past decade for fashion inspiration. For her 21st birthday party, she looked to Hilton for inspiration, wearing a silver sequined dress similar to the one Hilton wore to her birthday in 2002. Jenner has also been a prominent supporter of tiny sunglasses, tracksuits, and denim miniskirts.
When mid-2000s fashion trends make their full illustrious return to the zeitgeist, blame Kendall Jenner.
