Kendall Jenner Steps Out In Fashion's Most Hotly Debated Shoe

Last night, Kendall Jenner was seen leaving Bella Hadid’s birthday party in a full late ’90s-inspired look: pumpkin orange top (how autumnal!), leather lace-up flares (very Sheryl Crow circa 1998), and black patent leather shoulder bag (now trending: click here. Her most statement-making accessory? A pair of snakeskin-embossed brown square-toe boots.

First popularized by Tom Ford during his Gucci years, the square-toe shoe is right in step with the pre-Y2K pared-back look of the moment. In fact Ford recently released a similar style for his namesake label. The silhouette showed up on the runway at Versace for Spring 2019, too, while Balenciaga created a loafer version. Even men are being encouraged to get on board—the shape made a comeback at Calvin Klein and Wales Bonner.

Clearly Jenner's starting the season off on the um, right foot.
